Janis L. Weiland

May 11, 1947 — April 16, 2017

Surrounded by love, Janis Weiland passed away at home on Sunday evening, April 16, 2017. Janis was born in Appleton on May 11, 1947, daughter of the late Clarence and Betty (Mitchell) Voigt. She was a graduate of Xavier High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh. On March 9, 1968,
Janis married Gary Weiland in Appleton. Janis was a registered nurse for thirty-two years on the rehabilitation unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Prior to her retirement, she was a home healthcare nurse with Ministry Health. Janis was a beautiful and gracious woman. Her family were her friends and her friends were her family.

She enjoyed simple pleasures: never missing the grandchildren's sporting events; watching movies with her grandson; looking forward to morning coffee with her beloved sister and brother-in-law; spoiling her golden retriever, Pedro, with snacks; drinking her Blue Moons; cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers; lunching with her girlfriends; and thoroughly enjoying every single day of her life.

Janis is survived by three children: Ann (James) Chesnutt of Appleton; Christian (Heidi) Weiland of Menasha and their children Ethan and Haden; Joseph (Michelle) Weiland of Menasha and their children Allison and Ryan; two brothers: James (Noritha) Voigt of Fremont and Steven (Debra) Voigt of Winneconne; two sisters: Mary (Don Loga) Voigt of Wisconsin Dells and Sue (Curt) Foth of Appleton; brother-in-law Greg (Kathy Taplan) Weiland of Neenah; sister-in-law Lois (Dennis) Wiesner of Hortonville. There are also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Janis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Gary, and her in-laws Buck, Verna, Mark, and Carl Weiland.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Friday, April, 21, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Pullen officiating. Per Janis's wish there will be a celebration of life following the Memorial Service.

The family would like to acknowledge the following for their care and compassion: Dr. Tammela and his extraordinary staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay; the third floor med-surg unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital; and Heartland Hospice.

There is no death-only a change of worlds.
