Janice J. Gleasner

Janice J. Gleasner, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She was born in a log cabin by the Red River in Gresham on June 28, 1925 to the late Louis and Meta (Petrich) Flauger. In her late teen years, she moved to Sturgeon Bay where she met Merlin Gleasner. The two were married on April 7, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. The two lived and worked in the Sturgeon Bay area until 1956, when they moved to the Fox Valley and eventually settled in Menasha in 1968. Janice was a dedicated and loving mother to her two children, Patricia and Chuck. She was a dog lover, and also enjoyed embroidery and making beaded Christmas ornaments. Janice was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. In recent years she was dedicated to watching mass and praying the rosary while listening to EWTN. Janice was known for her famous peanut butter cookies that she shared with friends, family and neighbors.

Janice is survived by her two children, Patricia “Pat” (Bob) Mullen and Charles “Chuck” (Becky) Gleasner; grandchildren: Chad (Karen) Mullen, Christine (Brinsen) Wynn, Renee (John) Laczkowski, Sherri (Ned) Hammen, Kathi (Victor) Gonzalez, Salli (Special Friend Jesse) Coyle, Terri (Peter) Schmidt, Kelli (Brian) Blansette, Doug Gleasner and Abbi (fiancé Caleb) Gleasner; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Waldine Maccaux, Gerald Flauger, Louis (Doris) Flauger, Larry Flauger, Sharon (Jule) Raddant, Gail (Robert Sr.) Maas. She also leaves behind her special friends, Donna, Gail, Rick, Deacon Rick and her Yorkie, Lady.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Merlin Gleasner.

The funeral liturgy for Janice will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (528 Second St., Menasha) with Fr. Paul Paider Officiating. Visitation will be held directly at church from 9:00 AM until the time of mass. A memorial fund is being established in her name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for the loving care given to Janice.
