Jamie Jo McDonald, age 34, of Menasha, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on December 12, 2019, at her home. Jamie was born on the first day of spring, March 20, 1985, daughter of Joe and Cindy (Abel) McDonald. She graduated from Appleton East High School in 2003 and worked as a customer service representative for WPS Health Insurance. In 2006, the love of her life and shining star was born; her baby girl, Annika. Jamie enjoyed going to as many of Annika’s sporting and band events as she could, and they loved attending Rock USA together each year.
When she was younger, Jamie spent many fun years on the family boat; swimming, fishing, tubing and jet skiing. While in her teens, she enjoyed attending raves in Milwaukee and was a huge Hanson fan. She was in the Lawrence Academy Choir and was highly praised for her beautiful voice. Chicago was one of her favorite places to visit; she loved its lifestyle and vibes. She enjoyed rock music both old and new. Jamie took every chance she could to gather with her family and make her famous broccoli casserole. She had a witty, Irish temperament that accompanied her Irish brown curly hair and freckles. Jamie was a faithful Packer fan; always staying optimistic that they would return to the super bowl.
She will be missed beyond words. Her wit, sense of humor, infectious smile, and laugh will remain with everyone she touched. May the road rise up to meet you Jamie, and the wind always at your back, and the rain fall softly on your fields. May God hold you gently in the palm on His hand.
Jamie is survived by her only daughter: Annika McDonald; her parents: Joe McDonald and Cindy McDonald; siblings: Jennifer (Fred) Ilsley, Shaun (Amber) McDonald, and Meghan Rodriguez; nieces and nephews: Ryan, Brianna, Matthew, Liam, Eli, Veronica, Lorenzo, Alexander, and Amaya; her close friend: Jonathan Burns; lifelong friend Mark Van Daalwyk; great nephews Jaxon and Ezra; as well as many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Tom and Angie McDonald; maternal grandparents: Elmer and Flo Abel; and the friends and family that have passed before her.
The Funeral Liturgy for Jamie will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, with Father Jim Leary, O.F.M. Cap. officiating. The visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund benefitting Annika’s education will be established.
