Village of Harrison – James T. Fischer, 79, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. He was born on October 7, 1938, in Appleton, the son of Theodore and Margaret (Talbot) Fischer, who preceded him in death. Jim was employed with Appleton Papers (Appvion) and retired after 38 years. He enjoyed watching the Packers, fishing, golfing, and sports. He will be remembered most for his love of his family.
Jim is survived by his 4 children: Dan (Dawn) Fischer, Connie Rickert, David, and Mike Fischer; 9 grandchildren: Charles (Diana) Rickert, Alyssa (Tim) Ahner, Jenna (Kyle) Roberts, Jillian (Peter) Kissinger, Brandon and Jacob Fischer, Courtney (Jake) Egebrecht, Coleton (fiancé Caitlin Van Haren) Fischer, and Caylah Fischer; 2 great grandchildren: Liliana Rickert and Grant Egebrecht; siblings: Margie (Bob) Brouillard, Mary Zimmerman, Jerry Fischer, and Josie Markwardt; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was further preceded in death by his sister: Patty Konkol and his brother-in-law: Bob Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
Jim’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers on the 6th floor at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton, Dr. Winkel, Dr. Greenfield, Dr. Biney, nurses Lou and Jennifer with ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and the discharge planner Cindy for helping to fulfill Dad’s last request.
