James "Rupp" L. Bieritz, Sr.

James “Rupp” Lee Bieritz, Sr, age 88 of Appleton, WI joined his heavenly kingdom on February 12, 2024.   He was born to Lothar and Gertrude (Schultz) Bieritz on January 11, 1936 in Appleton, WI.  Jim graduated from Appleton West High School with the class of ’54 and went on to work as a pressman supervisor for most of his life.   He also spent some time in the National Guard before his release to take care of his kids.  Jim raised 4 children with his first wife and 2 more with the love of his life, MaryAnn Safford, who he married in July of 1975 in Three Lakes, WI.   His 6 children were his pride and joy.

Jim was a true outdoorsman.   He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending as much time outside camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and hunting as he could.  Later in life, he also liked crafting, knitting, and playing card and board games.   More than anything, though, Jim loved his family.  He cherished every moment he spent with his wife, his kids, his grandkids, and his great-grandkids, and was so proud of each and every one of them.  

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, MaryAnn; his children, Pam (Roger), James Jr. “Bud” (Chicklet), Penny (Jim), Polly (Bill), Bill (Sarah), and Tim; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his sister, Kay (Dave); as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.  

Jim rejoins his parents, Lothar and Gertrude; his sister, Jean (Richard); his grandchildren, Jamie and Corrinne; as well as his beloved aunts and uncles.  

A memorial visitation will be held for Jim on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 2-4 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a memorial service to follow at 4 PM.  Jim will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI at a later date.  

Jim’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the Compassus Hospice team for their care and compassion shown during Jim’s time of need.  Your dedication is deeply appreciated.
