James, ‘Jim’, Resch, a Marine Corps veteran and resident of Butte Des Morts, Wisconsin, passed away August 22, 2023, at the age of 60, after an admirable fight with brain cancer.
Jim was born October 15, 1962, in Green Bay, the youngest son of Richard and Janice (Briggs) Resch, and the third youngest of their eight children. After high school Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his discharge from the USMC he worked in the paper converting industry most of his life. Jim was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and a year-round fisherman. For 30 years, he enjoyed his annual fishing trip with his brother, John, and a group of long-time friends, to Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Jim enjoyed an occasional round of golf with his dad, brother, uncle and cousin at Countryside and loved riding his Harley. He played in cribbage tournaments frequently and was even known to win sometimes, which can be confirmed by his collection of custom trophy cribbage boards. Jim was an avid sports fan of all Wisconsin sports teams and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Jim was a selfless man who was generous with his time and always willing to help out family, friends, and neighbors. His generosity also extended to animals. Jim loved his dogs as if they were his own flesh and blood. Jim has also helped the local shelter rescue stray cats. He had said if he had ever won big in the lottery, he would have moved to the south to help rescue dogs.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Janice and Richard Resch. He is survived by his siblings Paul Resch, Mary Ellen Resch, John Resch, Joe (Cindy) Resch, Lynn (Dave) Worthen, Kathy (Rich) Willes & Susie (Dave) Roark; nieces and nephews Brandy (Wayne) Runcie, Erin (Joe) Meyer, Jennifer (Ben) Wellens, Kimberly Resch, Hannah (Jeremy) Duffey, Jacob Goodner, Heather Worthen, Ben Willes, Chuck Willes and Ashley Willes, many great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to all of Jim’s wonderful neighbors and friends in Butte Des Morts that have helped and supported Jim and our family. A big thank you to the staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living in Menasha and Angie at Aurora Hospice for their wonderful care.
