“Jim”
James Robert Sorensen “Jim”, age 65, passed away on September 7, 2009. He was born in Green Bay on November 22, 1943, the son of the late Robert and Lorraine (Prelipp) Sorensen. He graduated from Appleton High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. After honorably serving his country for four years, Jim met his former wife, Mrs. Diane Romenesko (Del), who remained his good friend. Jim began his career as a steamfitter apprentice for Local 458. Over the years, he was the business agent for the Steamfitters Union for six years and worked for the union for over 30 years until his retirement. Jim loved to hunt, fish, was an avid Packers fan and loved spending time with his two dogs, Cha-Chi and Chi-Chi.
Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Mary Ann Sorensen of Appleton, children: Wade (Andrea) Sorensen of Macomb Township, MI, Blake Sorensen of Menasha, Anne (Lou) Breeler of Winneconne, Michelle (Dave) Taves of Appleton, Heath Derks of Appleton; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister, Carol (Ray) Harbeck and step-parents, Tom (Pat) Lison of Appleton. Jim is preceded in death by his son, Todd James Sorensen.
A funeral service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Dennis E. Ellisen officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 10, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Jim's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Appleton Medical Center ICU for all their care for Jim.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jim's name.
