James Matthew Kugel

Age 74 of Neenah passed away, Sunday, January 13, 2002, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 5, 1927 on the home farm in Shawano, WI to the late Frank and Barbara Kugel (Stempa). He graduated from Shawano High School and served his country in World War II in the Navy.
He later married Geraldine Reetz on May 15, 1954 in Minneapolis. He was employed at Equity Oil in Shawano as a truck driver. He later was a supervisor at Riverside Paper Co. He then worked at Mony Insurance Co. as a field underwriter and was awarded Man of the Year in 1968. Later he retired from B & J Supply Company in 1990 at the age of 62. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed collecting logo golf balls and coins. He also enjoyed nature and being with children and animals.

James is survived by his five children: Kathryn (Jim) Koehler; Kristine (Brad) Thomas; Michelle (Brian) Mahoney; Michael (Lisa) Kugel; Steven (Eva) Kugel; Grandchildren: Jessica and Tiffany Maas; Julian James Mahoney; Amber, Troy and Lindsay Kugel; Jennifer, Marie and Melissa Kugel; Jessica and Kristina Menne; two brothers: Francis (Alice) Kugel, Thomas (Sally) Kugel; He is also survived by three children who also called him grandpa: Matthew, Jennifer and Daniel Driessen.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Geraldine; brothers: Matthew, Bernard, Clarence, and John.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Menasha (300 Broad St.) at 11:00 am, with Pastor Timothy Kinne officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday (TONIGHT) January 15, 2002 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home and again at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Memorials will be given to the church in James and Geraldine’s name. James chose to be an organ donor to help benefit others.
