Northam, James J.
James J. Northam, “Jim”, age 72, died Saturday morning, March 5, 2005, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born March 24, 1932, in Ste Sault Marie, Michigan, to Oscar and Bernice (Conroy) Northam. He attended school in Appleton and graduated in 1950. He also served his country in the U. S. Navy. On November 23, 1957, he was united in marriage to Patricia Kaufert, who survives him. Jim retired from Wisconsin Tissue Mills (now SCA Tissue) in 1996 after 38 years of service. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. There was nothing that Jim loved more than casting a line in the Oconto River, at his beloved cottage near Mountain, Wisconsin. He was especially proud of the 48” musky that he caught a few years back. Jim was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to hear or tell a good joke. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia; his four children, Michael (Karen) Northam, Appleton; Susan (Craig) Wooster, Shelburne VT; Richard (Tracy) Northam, Neenah; Thomas (Christi) Northam, Menasha. His grandchildren, Elisabeth Northam (fiancé, Jason Larkee), Thomas and Alex Wooster; Nicholas and Mallory Northam; Chuck and Neal Northam. His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don (Penny) Kaufert, John Kaufert, Kathy (Daniel) Young, all of Menasha. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar, in 1952 and his mother, Bernice (Beecy) on February 6, 2005. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 11, 2005, at the funeral home, with Deacon Pete Reinl officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday and on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Jim's family would like to thank Theda-Care at Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
The Highwayman
I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I’ll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I May become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I’ll be back again, and again and again and again…
