DuChateau, James J.
James J. DuChateau, age 62, of Kimberly, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Colony Oaks Care Center. He was born June 10, 1945 to Ervin and Delores (Frechette) DuChateau, in Appleton and was an area resident all of his life. He married Cindy T. Neuman and in August they would have celebrated 40 years of marriage. Jim established and operated DuChateau Remodeling for 18 years until ill health forced him to retire. Even during his final days, Jim was lending advice and sharing his knowledge of the carpentry trade. He was also an expert on restoring classic cars. It had been a passion all of his life. He was an active member of the Northern Wisconsin Volkswagen Club and was proud of the fleet of “Bugs” he shared with his best buddy and son Nathan DuChateau. Jim was also a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Cindy; his beloved son, Nathan (special friend, Jackie School), Kimberly; his mother, Delores Dugan, Appleton; his brother, Don DuChateau, Appleton; his sister, Lois Stritch, Neenah; a brother-in-law, Richard (Sylvia) Thoe, Waupaca. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Heidi Rutherford and Amy Thoe and nephew, Erik Thoe. He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin DuChateau, his sister, Elaine Hall, his sister-in-law, Kristy Thoe, his father and mother-in-law, Harlin and Lois Neuman. Funeral services for James will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 601 South Washington Street, Combined Locks, with Reverend Bill Schroeder officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
Jim was a wonderful father and husband. He was a Jack of all trades and master of most. If there are homes and “Bugs” in Heaven, they will now be well taken care of.
Nathan and Cindy wish to thank Jim's caregivers, friends and all those who were always there when needed. A special thanks to Tracy Edmondson and his friends in the COPD Support Group. Jim fought a valiant fight and served as an inspiration to those who knew him.
