Age 76, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001 at the Appleton Medical Center, due to complications associated with kidney disease. Jim was born in Rockport, Indiana, son of the late Worden Graham and Lora (Day) Lashbrook. Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II where he proudly served on a destroyer as a “tin can sailor.” Later, he also served during the Korean War. Jim was married twice. First to Mary K. (Gritt) Lashbrook of Black Creek and later he married Mildred “Mickey” Bushman of Little Chute who preceded him in death. At different times, he was involved with Toastmasters International, the Lions Club, The Grange, and the Free and Accepted Masons.
He leaves behind twelve loving children: James Lashbrook, Jr. of Clovis, CA; Stephan Lashbrook of Milwaukie, OR; Donna Miranda of West Haven, CT; Michael Bushman of Neenah; Theresa Danke of Shawano; Norman Bushman of Mountain Home, AR; Patricia Morgan of Nampa, ID; Christine Belbusti of West Haven, CT; Mark Bushman of Little Chute; Andrea Rudolph of Little Chute; Lisa Appleton of Kimberly; Trudy Stoeger of Little Chute; 34 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by three brothers: Loran Lashbrook of Walnut Creek, CA; Paul Lashbrook of Oceanside, CA; and Richard Lashbrook of Merced, CA.
Jim will be remembered as a fighter who stood up for those in need. He was a true gentleman, loved by many; a man of intellect and wit. He loved his family and rejoiced in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Jim will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2300 Wisconsin Avenue in Kaukauna with Rev. Diane Rew-Gottfried officiating. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has directed that memorial contributions be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund.
