Formerly of Kaukauna, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Brewster Village in Appleton. Jim was born in Hollandtown on July 27, 1928, son of the late John and Nellie (Vander Wettering) Gerrits. He attended St. Norbert College in DePere and for a time lived at the Norbertine Noviciate in Madison. He also worked for Marathon Corporation and Continental Can. Jim was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and was a highly regarded marksman. He enjoyed teaching gun safety to young people.
He is survived by a brother: Gerald (Judy) Gerrits of Rosemount, Minnesota; four nephews: John (Juli) Gerrits, Pat (Cindy) Gerrits, Mark (Jackie) Gerrits, and Joe Gerrits; two great-nieces: Samantha and Kassidy; and two great-nephews: Eric and Scott. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother Russell (Joyce) Gerrits.
The funeral liturgy for Jim will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday (TODAY) December 11, 2004 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM Cap. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Hollandtown. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
