Appleton
Age 72, passed away on Thursday morning, December 7, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on November 22, 1934 in Appleton to the late Peter and Gertrude (Gartz) DeLain. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Menasha, after which he attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On April 4, 1959 he was united in marriage to Rita Braun at St. John Catholic Church in Menasha. He worked for Miller Electric for 38 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and also a member of The American Legion Johnston-Blessman Post 38. He will be remembered as a man with strong Faith who enjoyed spending time with his family, trains, eating breakfast with friends, animals of all kinds, music, and vintage trucks.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, Rita; his children and grand children: Steve (Connee) DeLain, and their children: Michael and Elizabeth, Appleton, Brian (Anne), and their children: Brianne and Molly, Appleton; Lisa (Dan) McHugh, Marshfield; brother: Tom (Cathy) DeLain, Manitowoc; sister-in-law: Molly DeLain, Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Gertrude DeLain.
Funeral mass for Jim will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church (500 West Marquette Street) with Father Tom Farrell and Father Brian Belongia co-officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund is being established in Jim’s name.
