James E. Sweere

September 27, 1928 — April 17, 2001

Age 72, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at his home. He was born on September 27, 1928, in Butler, Minnesota, the son of the late John and Margaret (Dykhoff) Sweere. Jim served in the U.S. Navy receiving an honorable discharge. He was employed at the Kimberly Paper Mill for 46 years and also did concrete and carpentry. Jim was active in the Kimberly Community Band, a Scout Leader and was a member of White Tails and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid Packer and Nascar fan. Jim enjoyed playing cards, golf, traveling, hunting, camping and fishing, especially sturgeon spearing. A wonderful father and grandfather, Jim’s special laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Cecilia (VanderWielen) of Kimberly; their nine children, Linda (fiancé Bob Eger) Roovers; Donna (special friend Pete Berken) Lowe; Debra (Pat) Dolan; Michael (Mary); Sandra (Kim) Marquardt; Richard (Melanie) ; Roger; Carl (Lynette) Trisha (Richard) Welk; 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his dog and constant companion, “Champ”. Jim is further survived by his five brothers, Clarence (Virginia), John Jr. (Romona), Duane (Rosie), Robert (Mary), Henry (Donna) Sweere; five sisters, Beatrice Berrens; Alice (Eugene) Vercauteren; Margaret “Toots” (Al) Krueger; Anita (Fred Jr.) Harder; Judith (Ken) Sommerhalder; an uncle, Cornelius Sweere; an aunt, Lena Polman, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Lucas Sweere, a brother, Eugene, a son-in-law, Donald Lowe and a brother-in-law, Mark Ritzke.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2001, at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, Kimberly, the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established. The family would like to express a personal thank you to the First Responders, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Fox Valley Metro Police Department for their help and guidance.
