James E. Oberweiser, age 88, passed away Sunday evening, May 18, 2008, following a brief illness. He was born August 25, 1919, to the late Charles and Hilda (Arndt) Oberweiser in Menasha and had been Appleton resident for 70 years. Jim served with the U. S. Army during WW II and served in Panama Canal Zone. He married Margaret Rutter in 1949; she preceded him in death in 2001. Jim was employed by Yankee Paper and Specialty Company until the company closed. He then started his own business, Value Papers until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He is survived by two sons, Richard (Susan) Oberweiser, Menasha; Donald Oberweiser, Menasha; one grandson, Charles Oberweiser, Ripon; a brother, John (May) Oberweiser, Appleton; three nieces and a nephew. The funeral liturgy for James will be held ay 11:00 am, Friday, May 23, 2008, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, with Father Michael K. O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am Friday, until the time of the mass.
