Jacob Peter Mata, age 27 of Nashville, TN passed away in September of 2023. He was born to David Hebert and Julia Mata on April 14, 1996, in Appleton, WI. He graduated from Appleton North High School in 2014 and went on to serve his time in the US Army. After his time in the military, Jacob worked a wide variety of jobs, including being a forklift operator, a craftsman, and even an organ harvesting tech. Whatever opportunity came across his path that seemed interesting to Jacob, he seized it.

In his younger life Jacob loved going skiing. He always kept his love for the outdoors, though, continuing that love with hiking, fishing, and camping. A big part of why Jacob moved down to Tennessee was his love for the mountains and nature. He enjoyed playing video games online with his brother and brother-in-law as often as he could. Jacob was a marksman and liked target shooting to keep on top of his game. For Jacob, no job was too difficult. Whenever presented with or completing a task, he was fond of saying “too easy!” More than anything, though, Jacob loved his family and cherished every moment he had with them.

Jacob will be dearly missed by his parents, David and Julia; his siblings, Michael (fiancée Christine), Angela, Rachel (Cody), Matthew, Zachary, and McKayla; his grandfather, James; his nieces and nephews, Marianna, Mitchell, Nicole, Laikyn, and Noah; as well as many uncles, aunts, other extended relatives, and dear friends.

Jacob is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Donna and Sandra.

A memorial visitation will be held for Jacob on Friday, April 5 from 11 AM - 1 PM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a memorial service to follow at 1 PM.  Jacob will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton following his service.
