Age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 18, 2003, following a short illness. Jack was born in Kaukauna on December 29, 1916, son of the late George and Mayme (Schultz) Burton. During World War II, he served in the United States Army, and on July 7, 1950 married the former Ada Erdman; she survives. Jack was employed by the Kimberly Clark Mill in Kimberly for many years, retiring in 1981
Many will remember Jack as an outstanding bowler, who also enjoyed softball, golf, and horseshoes. He especially enjoyed his daily visits with his many local friends.
Jack is survived by his wife: Ada Burton of Kimberly; three children: Richard “Rocky” Burton of New Berlin; Patricia Burton of Columbus; and Lori (Larry) Hooyman of Appleton; two grandsons: Troy and Brett Hooyman; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Burton of Kaukauna; Evelyn Herman of Oshkosh; and Mary Erdman of Green Bay; two brothers-in-law: Jim (Marie) Erdman of Kimberly and Bob (Toots) Erdmann of Kimberly. Jack is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert (Ceal) Burton and George Burton; a sister Shirley Solomon, brothers-in-law Herb Erdman, Spot Solomon, and Ted Herman; nephews David Burton, Mike McCormic and Tom Erdman; and a special aunt Martha Gill.
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 21, 2003 at MT. CALVARY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 208 S. Pine Street in Kimberly with Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 7 PM and again at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Jack‚Äôs name is being established.
