Irene M. Bungert, age 97, of Appleton, died Sunday afternoon, November 6, 2005, at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center. She was born May 26, 1908, to the late Henry and Anna (Huebner) Lippert and had been an Appleton resident since 1957. Prior to moving to Appleton, Irene and her husband, Mahlon farmed in the town of Ellington for many years. Irene loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and keeping a clean home. She was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Anita Bungert, Appleton; Donald and Barbara Bungert, Hortonville; seven grandchildren, Catherine (Paul) Wallace, Ann (Jack) VanHandel, Michael Bungert, Robert (Cindy) Bungert, David (Lisa) Bungert, Angela (Randy) Guyette and Steven (Jennifer) Bungert; 16 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Lippert; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Mahlon Bungert, March 30, 1995, a granddaughter, Christine Bungert, a great granddaughter, Jennie VanHandel, a brother, Henry Lippert, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Irene will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 West Parkway Boulevard, with Reverend Mark P. Henke officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am, Wednesday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to thank Anita Bungert, Irene’s daughter-in-law, Sharon and Marilyn, former neighbors of Irene, who visited often, the staff of Oakridge Gardens and the Pastors of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.
