Irene M. Acker, age 84, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at Franciscan Care Center in Appleton. Irene was born in the Milwaukee area on August 25, 1921, daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Drefahl) Pries. On September 24, 1938, she married Clarence Acker in Milwaukee; he preceded her in death in 1991.
Irene is survived by four children: Kaye (Leroy “Moose”) Meyer of Little Chute; Robert (Loretta) Acker of Lowell, Arkansas; James (Cynthia) Acker of Greenfield; and Wendy (Russell) Hunt of Lodi. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a brother: Howard (Nancy) Pries of Mosinee; a brother-in-law: Ralph (Edy) Hillman of Cambridge; and two sisters-in-law: Pearl Pfeffer of Caledonia and Violet Shabaz of Minnesota. Irene is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence in 1991, a son William in 1983, a sister Margaret Hillman in 1967, a granddaughter and her husband Colleen and Rick Janda in 2001, and brothers-in-law Omar Shabaz and Gene Pfeffer.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at ST. JOHN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine Street in Little Chute with Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the hour of the service.
