Irene E. Schmidt

Age 87, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2003. Irene was born in Appleton on April 21, 1916, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Stein) Forster. Irene was married to Arthur F. Schmidt who preceded her in death on October 27, 1986. Irene was a lifelong and faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Many will remember her faithful service as an active member of the ladies auxiliaries of both the Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW and the American Legion Post #41.

Survivors include her daughter: Barbara (Dennis) Bloy of Kaukauna and their children Denise Bloy of Little Chute, Sara (Jason) Lahm of Kaukauna, and Benjamin Bloy of Little Chute; a brother: Hubert Forster of Little Chute; three sisters: Marion Gunther of Menasha, Helen North of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Joan Gmeiner of Lakewood; a brother-in-law: Carl Miller of Baileys Harbor; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Forster of Atlanta, Michigan and Roseann Forster of Kimberly. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Steven Schmidt in 2000, brothers Raymond Forster, Kenneth Forster, Andrew (Eleanor) Forster, Edward Forster, and Norbert (Berdina) Forster; sisters Dorothy (Norm) Beschta, Margaret Miller, and Eunice (Jim) Strege; as well as a sister-in-law Carol Forster.

The funeral liturgy for Irene will be held on Friday, November 14, 2003 at 11 AM at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 7 PM and again Friday at the church from 10 AM until the hour of the services. There will be an VFW and Legion Auxiliary memorial prayer at 6:30 PM and a parish prayer and scripture service at 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Her kindness, gentleness, and fun-loving spirit were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed!
