Ira M. Livingston “Bud”

Age 75, died Wednesday morning, August 29, 2001. He was born May 21, 1926 to the late Ira W. and Mrytle (Gilbertson) Livingston in LaCrosse. Ira graduated from Appleton High School in 1944 and he married Dorothy I. Wells on November 2, 1950. He served with the U. S. Army during WW II in the Philippines and retired from the Army reserves, 31st Inf. Div. 106th Engineer Combat Battalion, Co. B with 22 years of service as Chief Warrant Officer, W-3. Ira and his wife of 50 years, owned and operated Livingston’s Sewing Machines which was started by his father, Ira W. Livingston in 1929. He served four years on the Twin Willows School Board 1961 – 1965, the Grand Chute Town Board as Supervisor 1965 – 1969 and the Grand Chute Town Board as Chairman 1969 – 1975. One of his greatest achievements was being Town Chairman and being part of the extension of College Avenue , including sewer and water, which enabled the Fox River Mall and many, many other businesses to flourish. “His special achievement was growing old with his sweetheart and spending time with his four children and his three grandchildren”. He was a member of the Reserve Officers Association, a life member of BPO Elks Lodge 337 and a member of the Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post 38 of Appleton. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy I. Livingston; four children, Patricia Haufschildt, Appleton; Kristine Kluge, Appleton; Ira W. (Donna) Livingston, Shiocton; Larry J. Livingston, New London; three grandchildren, Travis (Jessica) Haufschildt, Appleton; Megan and Max Livingston, Appleton; two sisters, Marlene and Nita. A memorial services for Ira will be held at APPLETON HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 3131 North Richmond Street, at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2001. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the chapel from 12:00 pm (NOON) Tuesday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
