COX, IOLA M.

Iola Cox, of Menasha, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, age 82 years, passed away at her home on April 1st, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 29, 1924 in Park Falls, the daughter of the late Fortice and Norah (Tatroe) Warren. On June 23, 1945 she married Percival Cox in Milwaukee. Iola was the secretary for the Business Manager of the Board of Education for the Wisconsin Rapids Public School System for 17 years. She was an active member and led the Women’s Fellowship at United Methodist Church. Iola enjoyed accompanying the Senior Choir for 12 years and the Junior Choir for 7 years. She was a member of the Shriner’s Auxillary and volunteered many years at Riverview Hospital. Many will remember her excellent seamstress abilities and beautiful crafts she made for others. Iola was a voracious reader and babysat countless hours for her grandchildren. Her love for music, family and her faith were the focal points of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years: Percy Cox, Menasha; daughters: Sandy Mader and Shari Hendrickson both of Menasha; grandchildren: Kristy (Mike) Ashman and Ben Mader; great grandchildren: Courtney and Carissa Ashman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bill (Doris) Cox, Jr., Petoskey, MI; a sister-in-law, Nina Cox, Upper Michigan; and nieces and nephews.

Iola was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother-in-law, Robert (Luella) Cox.

The funeral service for Iola will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 441 Garfield St, Wisconsin Rapids, with Rev. Patrick Green officiating. Entombment will take place at the Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for the Senior Choir of the United Methodist Church.
