Inez M. Schroeder, age 83, died peacefully in her home on Friday, February 11, following a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Thomas & Coletta (Golden) Dorsey, Inez was born on March 2, 1921, in Mackville, WI. She attended Freedom High School, and graduated from Appleton High School.
Inez was married to Harold E. Schroeder for 47 years, until his death in 1988. Together they raised 8 children: Jim (Peggy); Joan (Fred) Orland; Linda (Ray) Vanden Bergh; Chris (Joe Haubenhofer); John (Meg); Peggy (Carey) Wacker; Will. She was proud of her 19 grandchildren: Sarah, Huntz, Mary, Jenny, Ben, Stacy, Joey, Annie, Cassie, Mark, Katie, Mike, Betsy, Rob, Joe, Matt, Emily, Sam, Catie and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Dorsey, Bossier City, Louisiana and sister, Irene A. Hopfensperger, Appleton and Whitehouse, Texas. Irene was a devoted and loving caregiver to Inez throughout her illness. Inez was preceded in death by an infant son, Dougie; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
She lived in Appleton all her life, except for a 6 year period in Colorado Springs. Inez was a member of St. Thomas More Parish since 1963. She was an exceptional cook and an avid reader. Inez volunteered at various organizations, including St. Elizabeth Hospital and CASI house. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and traveling. Inez found great pleasure in a good meal, a good book and a good laugh with family and friends.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, February 14, 2005 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday, February 14 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The entombment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
The Schroeder family is grateful to Rose Vorpahl who lovingly cared for their mom in the past months.
