Age 71, died unexpectedly at his home, Wednesday afternoon, June 27, 2001. He was born January 12, 1930 to the late Algot O. and Stephka (Klemovich) Anderson, in Cloquet, Minnesota, where he was a resident until his graduation from Cloquet High School. Howie graduated from Lawrence University in 1951 with a degree in music. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he played with Army Band. He was employed by Sohmer Piano Company in New York and by Birkel – Richardson Music Company in Los Angeles. Howie started his own piano tuning business and had been a piano technician for 41 years. He was employed by Miller Electric for 40 years retiring in 1994 as a Production Engineer. Prior to his employment with Miller Electric, Howie played with The Tom Temple Band. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting cabin, fishing, playing cards, listening to big band music and cooking. Survivors include six children, Lorman and Sara Anderson, Neenah; Curtis Anderson, Phoenix, AZ; Russell and Lori Anderson, Greenville; Brian and Joni Anderson, Mason, Ohio; Sheldon Anderson, Denver, CO; Laura and Jeff Filen, Appleton; ten grandchildren, Stephanie and Lynn Ellen Anderson; Leah, Alyssa and Kara Anderson; Nicholas and Abigail Anderson; Ashley, Kayla and Kyle Filen; a brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Ruth Anderson, Burleson, TX; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jay Kurrle, Cody, WY. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen C. Anderson on June 27, 1997. Funeral services for Howard will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am Monday, July 2, 2001, with Deacon Bill Burke officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4- 8 pm Sunday and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
