Age 77, died Tuesday morning, October 23, 2001, following a long illness. He was born April 7, 1924, to the late George and Viola (Howe) Abendroth in Appleton, where he was a resident all of his life. Howie served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Following his discharge he farmed on the family farm, was employed by Fox Tractor and retired from Eggers Industries in 1978. Howie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, the Greenville Lions and the Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post #38. He is survived by his wife Ruby M. (Herzberg) Abendroth, with whom he just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary; four children, Timothy and Kay Abendroth, Two Rivers; Russ Abendroth, Greenville; Carl Abendroth, Greenville; Linda and Bob Cashman, Neenah; three grandchildren, Angela and Ken Abendroth and Jessica Cashman. Funeral services for Howard will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 27, 2001, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 – 8 pm Friday and on Saturday, at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
