Homer D. Carter
Homer D. Carter, age 78, passed away Tuesday morning, March 25th, at St. Elizabeth Hospital due to kidney disease. Homer was born in Fond du Lac on August 14, 1927 to Charles and Loretta Carter. In 1945, at the age of 18, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy as a Seaman, Second Class and served aboard the USS Warren transport ship during WW2. After an honorable discharge, he met and married Theresa Klaske on April 12, 1947 in Fond du Lac. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. He is survived by five children: Charles (Sandy) Carter, Sherry (Steve) Brajdic, Renee (Mark) Winter, Vicky (Gary) Carley and Lynn (Steve) Kimpel; along with 7 grandchildren and his devoted companion of 11 years, Benji. Homer was employed at Mercury marine and retired from the company after 43 years of service.
Dad was an excellent carpenter and constructed two of his personal homes as well as a vacation cabin in the woods. He loved flower and vegetable gardening, woodworking and going for long Sunday drives and Saturday night pizza. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his wife, Theresa; his father and mother and a sister, Virginia Klaske.
The family of Homer Carter would like to extend a special thank-you to the Dialysis Care physicians and nurses who cared for our father for the past five years. Private family services were held.
