Hilary “Duke” Emmer, age 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Oakridge Gardens. Hilary was born on October 25, 1924, son of the late Fred and Fanny (Lettler) Emmer. He served in the United States Army, and was a veteran of WWII. Hilary fought in Germany, France and the Battle of the Bulge. On October 5, 1946, he married Lucille Meyer. He was employed at Riverside Paper Company until the time of his stroke in January 1974. Hilary was an avid Packer fan, loved to play shuffleboard and drink his beer. His cars were one of his pride and joys. He loved being with his family, and was so very proud of his son and grandchildren. Hilary is survived by his wife Lucy of 55 years; his only son Barry and his daughter-in-law, Donna Emmer, Reedsville WI; his 3 grandchildren, Amy Jo (Dan) Van Deurzen; Matthew Emmer, all of Green Bay; and Sgt. Kimberly Emmer, active U. S. Marine, stationed in Hawaii and her fiancé, Leon Guthrie and their mother, JoAnn Brey, Sturgeon Bay. He is further survived by his nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends. Hilary was preceded in death by his brother Howard; and 2 sisters, Marie and Dorothy. The Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2002, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Deacon Don Gigure officiating. The inurnment will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sherwood. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, September 5, from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to benefit the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. are appreciated. Our family extends a sincere thank you to the staff at Oakridge Gardens for their care.
