Formerly of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2001 at the Hospice at Cherry Meadows following a lengthy battle with cancer. Herman was 72. He was born August 1, 1929 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, son of the late Herman and Frances (Van Heel) Bredeck. He attended St. Clemens and Sheboygan Central High School. He was then employed at Wisconsin Bell from 1947 until his retirement on October 12, 1982. After his retirement, he moved to Appleton and married Patricia Beaumont on April 30, 1983. Herman was a lifetime member of CWA and the Telephone Pioneers of America. He loved playing tennis and swimming at Club West. One of Herm’s greatest joys was following the sporting activities of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia Bredeck of Appleton; three children: Susan (Jerry) Moen of Fitchburg; Michael (Rosalie) Bredeck of Shorewood; Mark (Susie) Bredeck of Cedar Grove; seven grandchildren: Katie, Jeffrey, Emily, and Christopher Moen; Annelise and Jonathon Bredeck; Trisha Brown; three step-children: Robbi (Alex) Battey of Mendham, New Jersey; Scott VanderHyden of Sammamish, Washington; Jody (Terry) Burcham of Kodiak, Alaska; five step-grandchildren: Caroline, A.J., and Catherine Battey; Linzee and Maggie Burcham; two brothers: Leroy Bredeck of Sheboygan and Robert Bredeck of Wausau; mother-in-law: Carola Beaumont of Appleton; a brother-in-law: James (Jo Ann) Beaumont of Woodinville, Washington, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Martin Beaumont, and a sister-in-law Ruth Bredeck.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park with Hospice Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received in the chapel on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Herman’s name.
