Henry W. Maes “Honk”

Age 75, died Thursday evening, October 25, 2001, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 15, 1926, to the late Henry and Rose (Hoks) Maes, in Kaukauna, where he was a resident all of his life and graduated from Kaukauna High School. Honk served with the U. S. Navy during WW II and was stationed in the South Pacific for 2 ½ years. He had been employed in the construction field and retired from Oscar Boldt Construction. Honk enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and doing woodworking projects. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Kaukauna American Legion Post # 41 and the Kaukauna VFW # 3319. Survivors include his wife, Bernice S. (Williamson) Maes, to whom he had been married for 52 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Margaret “Mugs” Maes; Daniel and Diane Maes; Jeff and Sue Maes, all of Kaukauna; nine grandchildren, Michael (DeDe) and Sarah Maes, Kristy (Heath) Bayer, Kari, D. J. and Jason Maes, Ryan and Travis, Maes; three great grandchildren, Alex, Brady and Autumn Maes; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Margaret Maes, Houston, Tx; John and Laura Maes, Tacoma WA; Daniel and Jeanie Maes, Branson, MO; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Peters, Kaukauna; Marie and Norman Reybrock, Little Chute; Joan and Warner Fahl, Little Chute; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Van Den Huevel. A memorial mass for Henry will be held at 4:30 pm, Monday, October 29, 2001, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, with Father Jim Lucas officiating. Friends may call at the church from 3:00 pm Monday until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
