Age 86, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 11, 2003. He was born in Kaukauna on July 24, 1916, son of the late Henry and Anna (Eberhardt) Hubert, Sr. Henry was a 1934 graduate of the Kaukauna High School, and served in the United States Air Force with the 96th Bomber Group of B-17 Bombers. He was also a 50-year member of the Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW, as well as past-president of the Kaukauna Eagles Club. On October 30, 1952, Heinie married the former Mary Giordana in Kaukauna; she survives. For many years, Henry was employed at Badger Northland in Kaukauna, and retired in 1979 as the Plant Superintendent. Many will remember Heinie as an all around sports fan, and the Holy Cross Basketball Tournament once named him “Outstanding Fan”. He was also awarded the “Special Fan Award” by the Kaukauna High School in 1981. In his younger years, Henry enjoyed golf, and was a former member of Countryside Golf Club. He always enjoyed a good card game, making crafts, and spending the winters in Florida. Few could spin a yarn better than Heinie; his story telling is nearly legendary!
Henry is survived by his wife: Mary Hubert of Kaukauna; two daughters: Laurie Hubert of Fond du Lac and Patty (Mike) Meyer of DePere; a granddaughter: Ashleigh Walls; six sisters-in-law: Sr. Jilene Giordana of Racine; Philomena Skalmusky, Janice (Bob) Hammen, Dolores Giordana, Donna Giordana, and Lorraine Giordana, all of Kaukauna; and five brothers-in-law: Frank (Florence) Giordana, Robert (Pope) Giordana, and Richard (Sally) Giordana, all of Kaukauna; Jim (Sally) Giordana of Kenosha; and Walter Schmidt of Wrightstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary (Charlie) Wiedenhaupt; a sister-in-law Lucille Schmidt; brothers-in-law Rudy Skalmusky, Emil Giordana, Joe Giordana, and Carl Giordana; and nephews Chuck Giordana and Paul Giordana.
