Helen Frances Werner, 97, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023.
Helen was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on July 12, 1925, to George and Eva Birling.
Helen graduated from St. Mary High School in Menasha in 1943 and went on to work as a stenographer at Kimberly Clark, Lakeview Mill.
In 1948 she married the love of her life, Clement (Bud) Werner and they raised 4 beautiful children together. They spent 57 and a half wonderful years together until his death in 2005.
For Helen, family was the most important thing in life. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and going to the casino. While she may not have always been a winner there, she hit a jackpot when God handed out families. She also enjoyed going to lunch with her sister Barb every Tuesday for many years.
Helen is survived by her sons; Thomas (Sue Kanta), Donald (Cindy), William (Amy), her grandchildren; Jesse, Ryan, Molly, Hannah, her step grandsons; Richard and Troy Poe, great-grandchildren; Colton, Autumn, Chase, her sister Barbara Leimer, brother Dan Birling, sister in laws; Sandie Birling, Debbie Birling, and brother-in-law Jay Leimer.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, daughter Nancy, brothers; Robert, Donald, Lenny, Jerry, sisters-in-law; Evelyn, Marge, Myrtle, Marguerite, Marcella, Arlene, brothers-in-law; Francis Werner, Roy Werner and Gordon Drexler.
In Helen’s own words, “Thanks to Bill and Amy for looking after me in my last years. Thanks to all my family. I had a wonderful life.”
In accordance with Helen’s wishes, no memorial service will be held at the present time.
The family would like to thank Jon Fischer and all the staff at The Gardens, especially Amy, Penny, Linda and Lori for all their loving care and compassion.
Helen, I couldn’t have asked for a better mother-in-law and friend than you. Rest assured Bill and your two sweeties will be well taken care of. Love, Amy
