Helen Rooyakkers, age 96, of Kimberly, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on May 19, 1921 in Neenah, to the late Leo and Mary (Monarsky) Metz. Helen married Tony Rooyakkers on September 3, 1945; he preceded her in death on April 1, 1999. Helen enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, playing cards, shopping and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her children: Michael (Teri) Rooyakkers with their family Sadie Anderson: daughters Natalie & Scarlet, son Calvin; Beth (Corey) Hurst: daughters Ava & Elle, son Fisher; Nancy (Dave) Opsteen with their family Sara (Scott) Siegesmund: daughter Alexandra; Matthew Opsteen (special friend Melissa); her sister Charlotte Tuchscherer, daughter-in-law Jill Rooyakkers, granddaughter Lisa (Rooyakkers) Norman and her son Erik, sisters-in-law Ceil McCormick, Mary Jo Rooyakkers, Mary Kay Rooyakkers and Ethel (Maury) Brockman. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son John Rooyakkers, grandson Ben Rooyakkers, sister Ruth Asmus, brother-in-law Ray Tuchscherer, mother and father-in-law George (Cecilia) Rooyakkers, brothers and sisters-in-law Peter, Henry (Joann), Paul, George (Audrey), Francis, Everett (Marge), Bernadette and Leo Rooyakkers, Cora (Carl) Ulmen, Mary (Dick) Van Lanen, and Theresa (Ray) Bongers. Also nieces and nephews Jane Wollersheim, Ann Rooyakkers, Steve Rooyakkers and Tom Rooyakkers.
The Funeral Liturgy for Helen will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Holy Name of Jesus Cem etery, Kimberly. A special thank you for the care and compassion provided by the staff at Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly and St. Elizabeth Hospital, Fremont Wing, 3rd floor.
