Age 71, died Friday evening, August 10, 2001 as the result of leukemia. She was born December 2, 1929, to the late William and Florence E. (Dean) Hupf, in Laona and had been a long time resident of Shiocton. Helen enjoyed crafts, making refrigerator magnets, and plaques, she enjoyed sewing and crossword puzzles. Survivors include four children, Laura Kohl, Appleton; Dawn (George) Arndt, Neillsville; Chad (Terri) French, Shiocton; Norman (Darci) French, Menasha; seven grandchildren, Justine (Jim) Duwe, Appleton; Melvin (Lisa) Kohl, Jr. , Appleton; Joey Arndt, Menasha; Jolie Quandt, Darboy; Candie (Randy) VanBeckum, Green Bay; Matt and Andrew Birling, Menasha; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Kappell, Mountain; Jackie Ratliff and her special friend, Bob, West Bend; a brother, Bill “Sonny” (Jeannie) Hupf, Tomahawk; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. French on February 14, 1995, two sisters, Evelyn (Del) Lunde and Betty Morey, a brother-in-law, Dale Kappell. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 13, 2001, at the funeral home, with Reverend Dan Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 am, Monday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
