Helen E Mason, 81, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away with her family by her side on October 24, 2021, at her home.
Helen was born October 23, 1940, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to George John and Clara Magdeline (Fronek) Steber. Helen married Eugene Mason on January 8, 1966, in Antigo, Wisconsin.
After high school she attended and graduated from the School of Cosmetology, after which she enjoyed a career of 50 years.
Helen enjoyed baking, cooking, camping, and gardening. She loved arts and crafts, and knitting was one of her passions. She shared all of her finished projects with family.
Helen’s heart was to help the needy, knitting hats and mittens for them to stay warm as a member of RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program). She was also a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Gene and Helen camped for 37 years in the town of Rome (Wisconsin) at Lake Arrowhead. On Saturdays Gene and Helen would drive 12 miles to Nekoosa, to attend mass at Sacred Heart Church. Lately she would drive her two lady friends to church. She loved the Lord!
She always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially sitting around a campfire.
Helen is survived by her husband, Eugene; one daughter, Sherry (Charles) Swindell; sister-in-law Barbara (Dave) Farmer; one son, James Curtis; one brother, John (Dorothy) Steber; sisters, Elizabeth Mugavero, and Barbara (Thomas) Boettcher; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Carol (Donald) Zoern, Janet (Leonard) Pagel, Joan (Gordon) Waldvogel; brother, George (Betty) Steber; niece, Debra (Steve) Gainey. George Samson.
Funeral Service will be on Monday November 1, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (222 E. Fremont Street 54915) Fr. John Katamba will officiate. Visitation Will be on Monday November 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.
