Age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at her home following a short battle with cancer. She was born on September 10, 1928 in Phlox, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Wenzel and Clara (Butler) Hayek. On August 16, 1974 she married John “Willie” Brooks in Kaukauna. She taught in several in several elementary schools in the area and Milwaukee, most recently at St. Mary Grade School. She was an avid fan of racing, football; loved gardening and going to the cottage but her greatest joy in her life was her children and grandchildren, and her best pal Haley.
She is survived by her daughter Laurie (Scott) Moss of Kaukauna, and her grandchildren Mariah, Scott, and Zachary Moss; her son Lee Heindl and his fiancé Lisa Maynard of Kimberly her sisters and brothers: Marie Now of Antigo, Idell Price of Fond du Lac, Pat (Francis) Verhasselt of Antigo, Christine (Wilbur) Keen of Perch Lake, Wisconsin, Bud (Loretta) Hayek of Milwaukee; her in-laws Carl Schultz, and Connie Hayek. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers: Rosie Schultz, Richard Hayek, Junior Hayek, and Dorothy Rank, her in-laws Don Rank, Art Price, and Erv Now.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, January 20, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna with the Rev. Charles Brooks and Rev. Frank Kirscher officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna on Sunday from 5-8 PM and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. Parish prayer and scripture services will be at 7:00 PM at the funeral home on Sunday. A memorial fund is being established.
