Helen C. Mullen

Helen Mullen, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee on March 5, 1915, daughter of the late George and Mathilda (Nigl) Moehring. On September 1, 1941, Helen married Vernon Mullen at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton; he preceded her in death in 1988. As a young woman, Helen attended the Oshkosh Business College, and worked at Coffey Motors in Kaukauna. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several different card clubs, and was also an avid lover of cats. Helen was also a longtime and faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna.

Survivors include a sister-in-law: Lillian Mullen of Kaukauna; six nieces: Kathy (Jerry) Frank of Kaukauna, Jeanne (Roger) Van Der Linden of Kaukauna, Mary (Danny) Lee of Little Chute, Patti (Joe) Bangart of Menasha, Sue (Mike) Schneider of Kaukauna, and Laurie (Curt) Howerton of Appleton; and a cousin: Marcus (Betty) Nigl of Kaukauna, as well as her dearest friend, Virginia Radloff, formerly of Kaukauna. Helen was preceded in death by a younger brother, Philip, who died when he was very young.

The funeral liturgy for Helen will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
