Little Chute
Age 88, died at Parkside Care Center on Monday, March 20, 2006. She was born in Freedom on October 6, 1917, daughter of the late Leo and Adriana (Arnoldussen) Schommer. Hazel was a resident of Appleton for most of her life and worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital as a L.P.N. for 23 years, retiring in 1980. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a 40 year member of the Secular Lay Franciscan (Third order), and a member of the Monte Alverno Retreat Guild.
Hazel is survived by her brother, Ray (Betty) Schommer of Darboy; sisters: Frances (Tom) Thompson of Canyon Lake, CA, Betty Coppus of Little Chute, and Anna Mae De Coster of Freedom; sisters-in-law: Helen Schommer and Marcy Seidl; and many nieces, nephews and god-children. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Leo Jr., infant sister Eileen; brothers, John and Merle; sister, Gladys (Henry) Anschultz; and brothers-in-law: Charles Coppus and Mark De Coster.
The funeral liturgy will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St, Appleton, with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom.
Memorials in Hazel’s name may be given to Leaven, 516 West 6th St., Appleton, WI 54911.
