Age 87, passed away at Appleton Health Care Center on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. She was born in Shiocton on February 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Albert and Julia (Bahrs) Martin. On October 22, 1941 she married Louis Locke in Appleton. He preceded her in death in 1976. Hattie was employed as a packer for Appleton Wire Works for many years. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church including: the Ladies Aid, Mission Group, and as a charter member of the Guild. Hattie enjoyed traveling late in life and many card parties.

Hattie is survived by her children: Betty (Robert) Dawes of Wisconsin Rapids, Diane (William) Smith of Fountain Hills, AZ, Shirley O'Connell of Neenah, and Christine (Jon) Hanges of Darboy; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law: Gertrude “Toots” and Evelyn Martin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents; great grandson, Jeremy; brothers: Herman, Philip, Gilbert and Arthur Martin; and sisters: Selma Schaetzel, Frieda Martin, and Goldie Yanke.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Ave., Appleton, with Rev. James Wiebel officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Hattie's name is being established.

The family extends a special thank you all who cared for Hattie at Appleton Health Care Center, especially Dyanne.
