Age 93, died unexpectedly at his home, Tuesday evening, December 25, 2001. He was born September 4, 1908, to the late John and Isabell (Nichols) Koehnke, in Appleton, where he was a resident all of his life. Harry served with the U. S. Army during WW II and following his discharge he worked with his father at their barbershop on South Oneida Street until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include a sister, Lucille Bartman, Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Koehnke, Appleton; Lorraine Penn, Rockford, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Beverly Butler, Appleton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verla (Sweet) Koehnke, a brother, Howard Koehnke, and a sister, Ellen LeMoine. Funeral service for Harry will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 East South River Street, with Rev. Jane Weeden officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 – 6 pm Tuesday and at the church, from 10:00 am Wednesday, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
