Age 88, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at St. Paul Home. Harriet was born September 5, 1914 in Little Chute, daughter of the late John and Nellie (Derks) Ver Voort. She married Henry Vanevenhoven on May 2, 1936 at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute; he preceded her in death on April 25, 1994. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who especially enjoyed baking treats for those she loved. She also enjoyed playing cards, going up north to the family cottage, and volunteering at Holy Cross Catholic Church and School. Harriet was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Holy Cross Altar Society, and the Kaukauna Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters: Rosemary (Richard) Vander Missen of DePere and Karen (David) Thiel of Port Edwards; seven grandchildren: Shelly (Bryan) Becker of Green Bay, Mike (Michelle) Vander Missen of Indianapolis, Jim (Molly) Vander Missen of Appleton, Lisa (Eric) Trousil of Wrightstown, Andy (Sue) Thiel of Gurnee, Illinois, Jenny (Patrick) Bergin of Franklin, Matt Thiel of Milwaukee; thirteen great-grandchildren: Jessie and Jason Becker; Joshua, Zachary, Tianna, Marissa, and Samuel Vander Missen; Drew and Morgan Vander Missen; Alexis and Kylie Trousil; Theresa and Alex Thiel; two sisters: Sr. Jean Anthony Ver Voort of Racine and Theresa (Frank) Van Stappen of Little Chute; sisters-in-law: Nellie Ver Voort, Beth Vande Burgt, Marge Holcomb, Joanne Ver Voort, Millie Ver Voort, Frances Vissers, Evelyn (James) Hermes, Lillian Thyssen, Nellie Vanevenhoven; a brother-in-law: Orville (Alma) Vanevenhoven, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, her step-father Matt Van Den Bosch, as well as by numerous brothers and sisters and their spouses.
The funeral liturgy for Harriet will be held on Monday, June 16, 2003 at 11:00 AM at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service.
