Harriet Green

January 13, 1918 — February 24, 2007

Our Mother, Harriet, age 89 years, went to her eternal home on February 24, 2007 to join her husband, Norbert A. Green, who passed away August 27, 1989. She was born January 13, 1918 in Little Chute and moved to Kaukauna shortly thereafter. Harriet was the oldest of four children to the late William and Louise (Williamson) Schumacher. Harriet and Norbert lived and farmed for over forty years in the Town of Kaukauna and moved to the Village of Freedom in 1976. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 14, 1987.

Harriet was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and the Freedom Golden Agers. She was an avid card player.

She is survived by her son: Earl and Bernie Green; daughters: Elaine and Dan Bowers, Joyce and Jim Golden, Janet and Jim Van Hoof and Donna and Bob Woldt; 23 grandchildren: Mike, John, David, Donn, Sue, Ann, Pat, Paul, Bob, Dale, Ken, Ed, Dan, Lynn, Deb, Kim, Kari, Kelly, Mark, Kip, Sherri, Jill and Sara and 48 great grandchildren. Harriet is further survived by Norbert’s brothers and sisters: John (Germaine) Green, Freedom; Frances Wieland Moundry, Kaukauna; Rosella Kortz and Verna Berkens, Little Chute; Eleanor and Bud Bowers, Wrightstown; Jim Van Vreede and Beady Green, Kaukauna. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Andrew VanDera; brothers: Nicholas and Henry Schumacher; great-grandson, Aaron Gerdman; father and mother-in-law John and Dora Green. Norbert’s family, Vince and Elaine Green, Bill and Lorraine Green, Florence and Leo Schmidt, Bob Green, Esther VanVreede, Charlotte Green, Orin Kortz, Gerald Berkens, Leo Wieland and Harry Moudry.

The funeral liturgy for Harriet will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the Freedom Food Pantry appreciated.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses at Parkside Care Center. Your care, love and compassion were so evident during mothers stay. Thank you for making Parkside “her home” during her final days. Special thank you to Fr. Dave Hoffman, Deacon Don, the pastoral staff from St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute and to Dr. Richter. Also, Erv DeBruin and Fran Kempen for all his jokes which really made her day.
