Age 72, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 07, 2007. He was born in Mattoon, Wisconsin on April 25, 1935, the son of the late Harold and Minnie (Metko) Beck. On August 27, 1955 he married Joann Nagel in Mattoon, Wisconsin. Harold graduated from Mattoon High School in 1954. He was employed at Miller Electric for 40 years and was also a member of APIC. Harold was instrumental in developing the Junior Achievement program in the Fox Valley. He was passionate about teaching young people about the free enterprise business system. He served as an advisor and on the Board of Directors for many years. Harold enjoyed spending time hunting, Trout fishing and going up north to Mattoon, but always had time to spend with his grandchildren. Harold was also very fond of his dog, Chip.
Harold will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Joann; children: Cheryl Bliss of Appleton, Jill Beck of Appleton and Curt (Christine) Beck of Appleton; grandchildren: Ashley Beck, Travis Lauder, Trenton Bliss and Harold Beck III; brothers: David (Betty) Beck of Athens, GA. and LeRoy (Barb) Beck of Kaukauna; sisters: Mary Jane (Bradley) Miller of Appleton, Judy (John) Hurlburt of Sister Bay and Jackie (Brian) Borchardt of Appleton. Harold is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Harold is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Beck.
The funeral service for Harold will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Appleton, with Deacon Pete Reinl officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dutch and Sue Boselie for their special care and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Harold’s name is being established.
