Harold W. Barker, Jr.

Age 59, died on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at his home, following a 5 year battle with cancer. Harold was born in Madison, WI, on March 23, 1946, the son of Harold, Sr. and Berniece (Purchatzke) Barker. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy Rae Dittmann, on September 2, 1967. Harold served his country as a Military Policeman in Korea. He was employed with Outagamie County as a Systems Analyst until his retirement in March of 2001. He and Judy are members of Faith Lutheran Church. Harold enjoyed working on the computer and playing cards, especially sheepshead and cribbage. He also enjoyed watching sports and especially loved to watch his children play baseball and softball. Harold will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy; mother, Berniece, Kimberly, formerly of Weyauwega; his 3 children: Chad Eric Barker and Jared William Barker, both of Appleton; Lisa Rae (Jeff) Shefchik, Green Bay; 2 brothers, William (Ruby) Barker, FL; Richard (Julie) Barker, Sturgeon Bay; mother-in-law, Velda (Anthony) Rechck, Waupun; 2 brothers-in-law, Mark (Mary) Dittmann, Neenah and Brent (Jayne) Dittmann, Pine River, WI; and sister-in-law, Mary Barker, Oshkosh. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends, especially Jack and Cathy Laeyendecker. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold, Sr.; brother, Robert Barker and father-in-law, Marlyn Dittmann. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Paul R. Brinkman officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 11 from 4 until 8 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday, from 2 p.m. until the time of service. The interment will be held at Lind Center Cemetery, Town of Lind, WI. The family would like to thank the staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice and all of the family and friends who helped out during this difficult time.
