Harold "Hap" Petta, 77, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Appleton, WI. He was born on January 11, 1948, in Sheboygan, WI to Harold and Margaret (Koechel) Petta.
Following his graduation from Sheboygan South High School in 1966, Hap enlisted in the United States Air Force, with one year spent stationed in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After his military service, Harold worked at Ebenreiter Woodworking and went on to build a career in sales, specializing in kitchen design and cabinetry at Midstate Supply, from which he retired in 2023.
Hap married the love of his life, Lee Eggers on April 27, 1974. Together, they raised their daughters Erin and Devon.
Hap had a passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed his time on the “40.” He found great joy in cutting firewood with his chainsaw and tending to bonfires, earning him the nickname “Fire Marshall” with his family. He was a master on the grill, cooking up his famous “Hap burgers.” Nature preserves captured his heart, and music fed his soul. He enjoyed day trips with Lee. He will be remembered for his warm, gentle nature and the strong bonds he forged with his grandchildren and loved ones.
Hap is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lee; his daughters Erin (John) Krueger and Devon (John) Little; grandchildren Sarah and Isaac Krueger and Lauren Little and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul “Doug” Petta.
