“Gen”
Gen Behrent, 84, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 4, 2008. She was born in Appleton on January 25, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Grube) Roocks. She married Edwin B. Behrent “Bud” on October 23, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1977. Gen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 80 years. As a young woman, Gen worked for Geenen's Department Store, Appleton. Gen enjoyed playing cards and dancing with her sister and friend, Loma Jury. Gen also cherished the time spent with her precious grandchildren. She took pride in playing the organ beautifully.
Survivors include two sons and their families, William E. Behrent and his wife Patricia L., Appleton, and their children, Cheryl L. (Jason) Steeves, New Richmond, Wis., Bryan W. Behrent, Appleton, and Gary W. Behrent, Milwaukee; two great grandchildren, Annie J. Steeves and Joseph N. Steeves, St. Paul, Minn.
Son, Michael E. Behrent and his wife Denise, Appleton, and their daughters, Nichole and Heather M. Behrent, Appleton. Her brother, Stanley (Delores) Roocks, Appleton; her brother-in-law, Lawrence (Betty) Behrent; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret (Stanley) Rice and Helen (Ray) Bartkowiak. Gen is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Erwin (Ruth) Roocks and infant brother Stanford Roocks, her sister, Loma (Hugh) Jury and her sisters-in-law, Celia Weils and Ruth (Erwin) Roocks.
Funeral services for Gen will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH ELCA, 209 So. Allen St., with Revs. Kurt and Mary Beth Kovanen officiating. Interment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. at the church until service time.
Gen's family would like to thank all caregivers for their care and love shown Gen during her stay at Brewster Village. God Bless you all.
