Age 23, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in the town of Buchanan. Griffin was born in Neenah on May 28, 1981, son of Erwyn and Santiaga (Castillo) Hoffius. Everyone knows how important skating was to Griffin – he was a member of the United States Association of Roller Sports and was also a member of the Allegro Speed Team. Griffin was an avid NASCAR fan, and also enjoyed the company of his brothers, sisters, and nieces. Most of all, he was the loving and devoted father to Catalina and William.
He is survived by his parents: Erwyn “Red” and Santiaga “Chaga” Hoffius; his fiancée’ and mother of Catalina and William: Dawn Peik of Appleton; seven brothers and sisters: Kristopher Castillo of Appleton and his daughter Britney; Courtney Hoffius of Neenah and her daughter Sequoia Malone; and Tyler Hoffius, Daniel Hoffius, Zachary Hoffius, Ezra Hoffius, and Alicia Hoffius, all of Neenah; his maternal grandfather: Fidel Castillo of Oshkosh; several aunts and uncles: Guadalupe Castillo of Oshkosh; Felicitas (Gerald) Zarling of Neenah; Peter (Lisa) Hoffius of Florida; Hidee Hoffius of Oregon; Linda (Tim) Foote of Rosendale; and Marj and Mike of Arizona. Griffin is also survived by several cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents William and Susan Hoffius, and by his maternal grandmother Betty Castillo.
Funeral services for Griffin will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, November 5, 2004 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Appleton’s Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the services.
