Greg Vander Velden

June 13, 1934 — November 19, 2004

Age 70, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at a Green Bay nursing home. Greg was born in Green Bay on June 13, 1934, son of the late Martin and Genevieve (Johann) Vander Velden. He was a 1952 graduate of the Kaukauna High School, and also graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Shortly after his education, Greg trained for six months with the United States Army. For many years, Greg worked as a civil engineer for the State of Wisconsin, and was involved in a variety of engineering tasks over the years. As a young man he participated on the high school football and track teams. In later years, he enjoyed pheasant hunting, deer hunting, fishing, photography, coin collecting, camping, and spending time at the cabin. Many will also remember Greg as a die-hard Green Bay Packer Fan.

First and foremost in Greg’s life was his love and devotion for his entire family. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather to both his children as well as to Carol’s family. Those that loved him and will miss him include: his wife whom he married on October 6, 1972: Carol Vander Velden of DePere; three daughters: Cynthia (Russell) Forseth of Columbia, South Carolina and their daughters: Jennifer, Sarah, Violette, Elissa, and Emily Forseth; Pamela (Joseph) Sturm of Appleton; Lisa (Mark) Stevens of San Antonio, Texas and their sons Travis (Pricilla) Stevens, and Troy Stevens; Carol’s children: Rob Van Eyck of Green Bay and his fiancée Patti Walters; Katherine Van Eyck of Green Bay and her daughter Tiffani (Todd) Burkard and their children Katy Pilar and Bradley Burkard; Joe (Lori) Van Eyck of Green Bay and their daughter Marissa Van Eyck; a brother-in-law: Cliff (Suzie) Nushart of Greenleaf; a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Nushart of Alaska; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother-in-law Ken Nushart, Ken’s son Kip Nushart, and by Carol’s parents Robert and Dorothy Nushart..

The funeral liturgy for Greg will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 22, 2004 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 119 W. 7th Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Robert Udulutsch officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, with military memorial rites provided by Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the hour of the liturgy.
