Grace J. Savage, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2012, at Heartwood Homes. She was born on July 12, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Carl and Asta (Wedel) Jensen. She attended Ripon College and later UW-Oshkosh working toward a degree in social work. On July 27, 1979 she married Dr. George Savage. They enjoyed traveling from Appleton to Eagle River during the summer and winters to Marathon Florida where they later retired. Grace was fun loving and full of life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a great smile, a kind heart, and was always ready to help wherever she was needed. Grace was a very talented artist with her passion in water color painting. She enjoyed knitting and quilting gifts for family and friends. She was always active and enjoyed cooking, swimming, and yoga. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Grace is survived by her children: Alison Kaegi, Appleton, David (Susan) Brahe, Eagle River, Bruce (Judy) Brahe, Menasha, Dr. Stephen (Lorrie) Savage, Appleton, AnneMarie Savage, Monton, VT, Dr. Ellen Savage, Appleton, and Roberta (John) Sedivy, Roanoke, VA, 19 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many dear friends. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, George in 2000, two sons-in-law, Stephen Nigl and William Kaegi, and her former husband, Dr. Neil Brahe.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Tri-County Chapel, 3212 South Oneida Street, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be private at Highland Memorial Park.
