Grace was blessed by her Lord during her life and now she has received the greatest blessing God has given her, life in heaven. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Appleton. Grace K. (Wiedenhaupt) Dercks, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3 at St. Paul's Home in Kaukauna.
Grace was born December 29, 1916, in the town of Buchanan, growing up on the family farm, the daughter of the late John and Eda (Hupfauf) Wiedenhaupt. She was united in marriage to John Dercks on December 29, 1945. John preceded her in death on May 11, 1987.
Grace attended Lone Hickory Grade School, town of Buchanan, Kimberly High School, and was a graduate of the class of 1934. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Menasha. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, the Altar Guild, the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W.
Survivors include a daugher, Mary K. (Doug) Gosse; a son, Jeffrey J. (Pam) Dercks; grandsons: Ryan (Vera) Gosse, Jason Gosse, and Dan (Angela) Zeman; and great-grandchildren: Miette Grace, Claire Grace, and Alex John. She is further survived by her sister, Bernice Arps, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, John, and her parents, Grace was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lois Ann; four brothers: Ervin (Mildred), Victor (Gertrude), Harold (Hilda), and Howard; one sister, Margaret (Fred) Harke; brother-in-law, Gilbert Arps; also on John's side, Richard (Delphine) Dercks, Margaret (Martin) Wildenberg, and Helen (Henry) Haupt.
Special to Grace were the many travels that she took with her husband, family, and friends.
Christian services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at MT. CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH N8728 S. Coop Rd., Menasha (from Hwy N. west on Woodland Dr., south on S. Coop Rd.) with Pastor Jesse Johnston officiating. A time of visitation wil be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and Fox Valley Lutheran High School would be greatly appreciated.
The family extends a special thank you to Pastor Jesse Johnston, her sister Bernice, St. Paul Elder Care (the Villa, the Home, and the Hospice Service) for their wonderful care and love, and her former neighbor, Theresa Lamers.
