Gloria Wiegman Springer was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. She left this world suddenly on May 9, 2022 at age 69.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Phyllis (Lonson) Wiegman on May 5, 1953. Gloria was a 1971 graduate from Appleton East High School and had a journey of making great friends wherever she worked. With the help of family and many friends, Gloria established a Jazzercize franchise and brought jazz hands and healthy smiles to many. At that same time, Gloria worked at Associated Bank in Organizational Development and Training. Gloria’s zest for traveling and unparalleled ability to build the perfect itinerary brought her out of retirement to work for Fox World Travel. She then fully retired to continue her endless To Do list of adventures.
Gloria had a passion for cooking and cherished opportunities to host dinners and explore new recipes. She maintained a beautiful garden where wine and late-night laughs were shared by the chiminea among friends and neighbors. Most of all, she was a generous soul who made sure all within her circle felt loved, extending her warmth with a hug, text, call, or card. Gloria was a joyful, bright light whose presence will be missed with every “Prost!”
Gloria is survived by her beautiful daughter Sarah Jane Springer, sister Gayle (William) Springer, brother Bruce (Anne) Wiegman, sister Pamela (Thomas) Plamann, and sister-in-law Sandy Wiegman, along with many nieces and nephews, and lifelong devoted friend of over 50 years Lori (Steve) Hammerseng. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Phyllis, and brother Bob.
The Christian Funeral Service for Gloria will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton, with Pastor Michael Ewart officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday and continue until the time of the service at 4:00 PM held also at Wichmann’s. Contributions may be made to Gloria Wiegman Springer Memorial.
